Tuesday June 6th, 6pm

24 Maniacs showed up to participate in the Evil Alleycat. We also had about 20 volunteers help inflict suffering or offer moral support to the racers. The race covered 11 checkpoints with 3 pick-up's that the racers had to carry to the finish. Checkpoint 2 was the first stop that required a pick-up of an egg. It was hard boiled, but we didn't tell the racers that till the finish. Checkpoint 4 was as evil as they come. We had the racers pick up a cobblestone then ride up to Mt. Adams. We handed out 24 cobblestones, but only 11 made it to the finish. I found one more the next day in Eden Park, but 12 are still unaccounted for.

After climbing up Mt. Adams the racers headed to Eden Park were they had a final pick of a water balloon. We had plenty so the checkpoint host felt obligated to toss a few to try and keep the racers cool. After that was a stop at the WCPO castle for a photo-op with AK-47.

Then back downtown to P&G across from the Masonic Temple and up threw Over the Rhine to a couple of sets of steps with a steep hill in between for good measure. Those unlucky few who locked their bikes at the bottom of the second set of steps and didn't bring their spoke card to the checkpoint got to do the staircase twice! Bonus. From there it was off to district one police station where each contestant had his or her name run for outstanding warrants. I told you it was evil. Then off to the finish for a well deserved ice cold beverage. Well, at least colder than hell.

Unfortunately, there will be no video as a video cable was gnawed in half by a gremlin that snuck into my bag before the race started. Sorry, but pictures are posted.
