Thanks to everyone
who came out to play in the flurries.
We didn't get the 26" of snow
that shut down the east cost but
the weather conditions made for
a tough race. My helmet's off to
everyone who finished.
So why did we call
it Fixed Gear Friendly? Well aside
from reducing the climbing grades
on the course, a one minute penalty
was assessed for every additional
cog on your rear wheel. That's right
Mr. Ten Speed Cassette, You better
get moving cause you are already
9 minutes behind. And anyone with
a flip flop hub has got a 1 minute
penalty as well. We had 12 people
show up to race. 11 finished and
one person was lost in the snow.
Search parties came up empty so
check your milk cartons please.
After flatting early
in the UDR Alleycat last November,
Kevan Rutledge was determined to
hammer home a win this time. Despite
all my efforts with tacks and broken
glass around the checkpoints, Kevan
rode the entire race without a single
flat. His efforts were impressive
and only once did he look back and
ask for someone else to pull. With
three checkpoints to go, Kevan pulled
away from the number 2 finisher,
Zach Thomas, on the climb up Delta
and soloed to the finish in Over
the Rhine. The Fastest Fräulein
was Lindsey Caron. Way to Go Lindsay!
